Finnish Ambassador to Thailand H.E. Kirstie Westphalen (woman in red in the photo) most kindly hosted lunch for me yesterday at the Ambassador residence. We were joined by Norwegian, Spanish and Polish ambassadors to Thailand and naturally discussed the state of#Juntaland , oops #Thailand . (The deputy head of the Austrian mission was also there along with a senior French diplomat.) Ambassador Westphalen told me how she personally raised the issue of the junta's travel ban imposed on me which prevented me from attending UNESCO-organized World Press Freedom Day conference in May in Helsinki to the Thai Foreign Ministry when a group of 18 Ambassadors and diplomats met with a deputy permanent secretary of the Foreign Ministry on Thursday.
